About Mechanician

Some sites hosted by OXARO only allow access from certain IP addresses. This is a security measure to help ensure that the private data of citizens is protected from data breaches.
Sometimes, IP addresses change, and you cannot access the project sites anymore.
Mechanician is an online tool that checks whether you still have access to protected systems from your location, and, if not, lets you send a request to authorize your new IP address to access those systems with just a few button clicks.

How can I add a new location?

Mechanician updates the IP address associated with a location where you already have authorization to access a protected system; it does not authorize new locations or grant access to systems to which you did not already have access. To get access to a protected system from a new location, please contact your project lead.

What is the turnaround time for updating my IP address?

When you submit a request, Mechanician sends you an email notification acknowledging your request and starts the process of granting access from your new IP address, which can take up to 2 hours. Once the request is resolved, your access to protected systems will be restored.

What do the various colours represent on my location?

The colour of your location card changes based on the status of a request. When your location has multiple projects, it reflects the lowest request status:

Mechanician approved your request for all of your projects for this location
Mechanician is working on your request
Mechanician is unable to resolve the request for one of your projects for some reason.
You haven't submitted a request for this location, or if you have, the cooldown period hasn't elapsed.
